Preliminary Exercise

Continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule.

Media specific terminology

Filming  - Filming is when a video device of some sort eg. phone or video camera is used to record a video of anything. 

Editing - Prepare for publication by correction, condensing or otherwise modifying it.Character - A person portrayed in an artistic piece, such a a drama or a novel.  

Dialogue - Speech which can range from a word or a few sentences in which a person has verbally communicated as a feature of a book, play or film.
